Antipolo Road Rage Incident Ends in Tragedy

On Monday evening, Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Manongdo, Acting Police Chief of Antipolo City, announced that the suspect in the tragic road rage incident had been charged with three charges of frustrated murder and violating the election gun ban earlier in the day. The charges stemmed from a violent incident on March 30, 2025, in which Kenneth, the suspected shooter, opened fire on four people, including his wife. One of the casualties, a motorcycle rider, died tragically from a head injury.
Manongdo also stated that, due to the victim’s death, the authorities would “upgrade” the case to murder on April 2. The perpetrator, who was promptly caught by local police, is now facing more serious accusations (GMA News).
“Tinanggap na po ng Prosecutor’s Office yung sinampa nating complaint against po sa suspect natin. Kung saan ang isinampa natin sa kanya ay three counts of frustrated murder and yung violation po ng gun ban” he mentioned during a Facebook live broadcast.
“Tapos patay na po yung isang biktima…Yung naisampa natin nitong hapon na three counts of frustrated murders, bale i-amend natin siya kasi patay na po yung nakita nating nakahandusay, yung nabaril sa ulo” Manongdo stated.
Details of the Incident
The culprit has been identified as Kenneth, a 28-year-old businessman who allegedly shot four people, including his own wife. One of the victims, a motorcycle rider, was shot in the head and died as a result of his injuries.
According to reports, the incident began as a verbal dispute before escalating into a fatal shooting. The culprit was swiftly caught by Antipolo City Police and is now facing murder charges rather than the first frustrated homicide allegation (Philstar).
Driven by Emotion
Kenneth, the suspect, explained that he was rushing because his car was parked with its hazard lights turned on in traffic. While apologizing for the event, he stated that an argument turned into a physical fight with one of the motorcycle riders.
“Hindi ko naman po talaga sinasadya po Ma’am, nadala lang po talaga ako ng emosyon” he said.
Manongdo went on to say that Kenneth was legally entitled to own a firearm but violated the election gun ban, which is in effect until June 11. Kenneth said he was aware of the gun ban, but justified carrying a firearm in his vehicle for personal protection, particularly for his children (Philstar).
Road Safety and Conflict Prevention
The tragic shooting has sparked debate about the consequences of road rage and aggressive driving behaviors. Authorities advise the public to handle traffic problems calmly and to pursue legal action rather than resorting to violence (GMA News).
Manongdo also urged motorists to control their emotions in order to avoid road rage situations, adding that ego is typically the driving force behind such disputes.
“Sana matuto na tayo sa mistake nila…Alam niyo ego lang ‘yan…You really need to evaluate kung alin ba ang mas mahalaga” he stated.
As the investigation continues, this instance serves as a sharp reminder of the importance of self-control, responsible firearm ownership, and conflict resolution to prevent unwarranted violence and fatalities on the road.
